The Chicago Bulls are discussing a contract with power
forward Louis Amundson, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
Stein adds that a decision is expected to come today, with
the Bulls set to discuss specifics with Amundson’s agent.
Chicago is seeking to add a big body after losing Taj Gibson
to a sprained left knee. The Bulls have enough financial flexibility to sign
Amundson, who Steins says would be eligible to play for the club in the
postseason because he was waived by the Minnesota Timberwolves before Friday’s
11:59 p.m. EST deadline.
Amundson has been looking for a new team since being
released by the Timberwolves. Beyond the Bulls, Amundson has said that the Miami
Heat have also considered him for a roster spot.
The Philadelphia 76ers also expressed interest in trading
for him before he was released. The proposed deal would have also send guard
Luke Ridnour to Philadelphia, while center Spencer Hawes would have joined the
Timberwolves.
