Knicks' Tyson Chandler Out With Bulging Disk, Kurt Thomas To Miss 2-4 Weeks

The New York Knicks continue to face significant blows to their roster. The latest to join the list of the injured are Tyson Chandler and Kurt Thomas, according to Newsday.

The team announced on Tuesday that a MRI revealed a small, bulging disk in his neck. He will take the next week off to recover. For the season, the All-Star is averaging 10.7 points on an extremely efficient 64.5% shooting in addition to 11 rebounds per game. The Knicks are currently situated at first in the Atlantic Division but recent struggles are threatening to take that away from them.

Kurt Thomas's injury is more severe, as he has an acute stress reaction surrounding a chronic stress fracture in his navicular bone. He is expected to miss the next two-to-four weeks recovering, which is essentially the rest of the regular season.

Both injuries were discovered Tuesday with magnetic resonance imaging tests.

The Knicks frontcourt is taking blow after blow. They have already lost Amar'e Stoudemire who at best could return for the playoffs and Rasheed Wallace, whose basketball career could be over. Carmelo Anthony has been out for a while and now both Tyson Chandler and Kurt Thomas will be missing crucial games to end the season. After a red-hot start, the Knicks were regressing to their norm but these injuries and pushing them further down.
