Apparently, the Brooklyn Nets were interested in Paul Pierce. However, the Boston Celtics have no intentions of trading Pierce. At least not to the Nets and not for what was offered.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Celtics like Pierce. They understand his value, and they understand he is what will keep Kevin Garnett happy. Really, the Celtics would only trade Pierce away as a means to force Garnett out the door as well.
Pierce has been a productive player in his time with the Celtics, but the big three is the big two now, and KG is likely on his way to retirement. It would make sense for the Celtics to at least consider a trade for Pierce, but that doesn't seem likely.
Pierce has spent his entire career with the Celtics. There's no doubt he wants to retire a Celtic. He has averaged 21.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in his career. So far this season, he is averaging 18.4 points and 6.3 boards per game.
