The Phoenix Suns are looking into a possible trade with the New York Knicks. The Suns would love to have Iman Shumpert, but the Knicks want appropriate compensation. Phoenix may not be able to provide that, but the two sides are continuing to talk.
Adrain Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports says that the Suns did not previously know that Shumpert would be available in a trade. The two teams had some preliminary discussions about the Knicks' interest in Jared Dudley, but the Suns did not see anyone available from the Knicks that they would be interested in. With Shumpert's availability, the talks have heated up.
Shumpert has averaged 5.6 points and 3.3 rebounds per game this season. However, he has seen little playing time this season. The point guard has averaged just 18.9 minutes per game this season. Last year, he averaged over 28 minutes per game. In his career, Shumpert has averaged 8.9 points and 2.6 assists per game.
If the Knicks are truly interested in Dudley, they are looking at a player who can give them points and minutes. Dudley has averaged 11.8 points per game this season. In his career, Dudley is averaging 8.9 points per game.
