The entire arena was silent as trainers and paramedics got to work on strapping Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to a stretcher. It's not common to see players carted off the court in an NBA, not like it is in the NFL. So when MKG went down and didn't get up, it was frightening to say the least.
According to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, MKG was moving all extremities and talking before being carted off. After being evaluated at the hospital, Kidd-Gilchrist was diagnosed with a concussion.
X-ray and CT scan showed no additional head and neck injuries. However, NBA now has a concussion protocol that MKG must pass before playing.MKG has been an instant hit with the Charlotte Bobcats. He was drafted out of Kentucky (isn't everyone these days?), and has immediately proved himself as a worthy forward in the league. So far this year, he is averaging 9.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
