Leading up to this month’s NBA trade deadline, it appeared all but a sure bet that the Orlando Magic would trade J.J. Redick. While it’s
been reported that multiple teams, including the Chicago Bull, Indiana Pacers,
Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics, are interest in Redick, the Magic have told
the sharpshooter that they’re not “actively trying to move” him, reports Josh Robbins of The Orlando Sentinel.
Magic SG J.J. Redick told the Sentinel after Sunday’s win that the club has told him they “are not actively trying to move me.”
Despite what they’re telling him, there are multiple reasons
why the Magic are likely to move Redick. He’s a solid three-point shooter who
has also shown an ability to drive, pass and defend. The 28-year-old is also in
the final year of his current contract.
While the Magic may not be making calls on Redick, they are
almost assuredly receiving them. So far this season, he’s totaled 15.5 points,
4.5 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game while shooting 40.1 percent from
three-point range.
