Orlando Magic guard J.J. Redick is still one of the most-likely
players to be traded today, and the Memphis Grizzlies, Chicago Bulls, Indiana
Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves are among the teams that
have expressed interest in the three-point shooter, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
The Magic would like to keep Redick in the fold beyond 2013 by
re-signing him this summer. However, Wojnarowski believes they won’t be able to
offer the pending free agent his best offer.
Redick’s agent will reportedly be seeking a four-year, $40
million deal. While this probably isn’t realistic, Wojnarowski does believe the
guard could end up with a multi-year contract with an average annual salary in
the $7 million range.
If they were to trade him, the Magic are currently asking
for a first-round pick and good young player in return, and teams are hesitant to make that deal. But as the deadline approaches someone is likely to
ante up or Orlando will reduce its asking price in order to facilitate a
transaction.
