Leonardo Barbosa Tears ACL, Out for the Season

Boston Celtics' guard Leandro Barbosa will be added to the growing list of Celtics' players out for the season. An MRI result confirmed that he suffered a torn ACL from a play in the third quarter of the loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. Rajon Rondo tore his ACL not even a month ago and the Celtics list of guards continues to diminish.

A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com reported on the injury and noted the status of the Celtics guard rotation.

Arguably the best free agent point guard available right now is Jannero Pargo who was not re-signed after a second, 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks. Boston may look to its D-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws, to bring up a player like Andre Barrett or Shelvin Mack, both of whom have prior NBA experience.
Not only are there few quality point guards available either by free agency or via trade, but the C’s now have the challenge of trying to swing a deal with limited trading chips at their disposal.
The Celtics season looks to be in trouble if they continue to take injury blows like this. Sitting at the seventh seed with a 4.5 game cushion, the team just needs to stay focused to keep their playoff spot. Recently, the team's played well, winning seven of their last 10 games. The Celtics will likely secure a playoff berth regardless.

For the season, Barbosa is averaging just 12 minutes a game but is providing 5.2 points and 1.4 assists per game.
