The Los Angeles Lakers are dealing with injuries to big men
Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol, who’s set to miss nearly two months of action.
However, at this time Los Angeles is sitting tight and not looking to acquire a
big man, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN Los Angeles.
Shelburne added that the Lakers have no immediate plans to
add a free agent big man to help fill in their suddenly depleted front court.
Howard has dealt with a shoulder injury that’s sidelined him sporadically
throughout the season, while Gasol recently suffered a tear in the plantar fascia of his right foot.
The Lakers have one open roster spot to sign a free agent to
either a 10-day contract or for the rest of the season. Some potential names
that have been tied to Los Angeles include Kenyon Martin, Greg Oden and Louis
Amundson, all free agents. The Lakers don’t have anything teams will valuable
big men, including Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith, would want, so a trade
seems to be outside the realm of possibilities.
