It’s been anything but a smooth ride since Dwight Howard was
acquired by the Los Angeles Lakers, leading many to speculate he could be
traded or at least allowed to walk at the end of the season. However, former
teammate Rashard Lewis believes Howard will re-sign with the Lakers this
offseason, reports Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports Florida.
“My gut feeling is I think he will,’’ Lewis who is now with the Heat and will face Howard on Sunday, told FOX Sports Florida. “I think he will be in L.A. … He most definitely likes the city, likes the organization.”
Lewis continues on to say that Howard wants to “win
championships,” and that the center likes the Lakers’ history of winning. While
the situation remains to be determined, Lewis’ gut feeling is that Howard will
remain in LA.
While Howard is still poised to become the next face of the
Lakers’ franchise, taking over the torch from Kobe Bryant, it’s not a sure
thing that he elects to re-sign with LA. He’s yet to experience success with
the Lakers and he reportedly wasn’t a fan of the hiring of head coach Mike D’Antoni.
