The foot injury Pau Gasol suffered in the Lakers' win two nights ago was worse than anyone could have guessed. Gasol suffered a tear to the plantar fascia and will miss 4-6 weeks. The Los Angeles Lakers forward said he heard the pop and knew something was wrong. The extent of the injury was confirmed yesterday.
According to ESPN Los Angeles, the Lakers have not yet set a timeframe publicly for Gasol's return, but a source within the organization said it would take 4-6 weeks before he could get back on the court. This is a huge blow as the Lakers try to climb back into contention. Gasol took to Twitter when he learned of the tear.
The result of the MRI shows I have a torn fascia of my right foot. Tomorrow I'll fly back to LA to see our team doctors. #AlwaysPositive

Gasol has been in and out of the Lakers' lineup all year. He suffered tendinitis in his knees earlier in the season and had to miss time. He then suffered a concussion that sidelined him for more than a week. The team has a 5-8 record without Gasol this year.
Los Angeles is 3 1/2 games out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. They will had to try to fight their way back into contention with Gasol cheering from the bench. They can't wait for his return to make their move.
