And the injuries keep coming. Pau Gasol has now suffered his third different injury this season. After battling through tendinitis in both knees and a concussion, Gasol has now injured his foot. The Los Angeles Lakers forward had to leave the game yesterday due to the injury, and he left the arena on crutches.
According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles, Gasol suffered a sprain to the plantar fascia of his right foot. This is the area that runs along the bottom of the foot. Gasol is scheduled to undergo an MRI today to determine the extent of the injury.
"I tweaked my fascia in the first half, so I was dealing with quite a bit of soreness in the second half," said Gasol, who left the game with 3:50 remaining. "So I couldn't do certain things."
The Lakers ended up winning the game, but the loss of Gasol is another blow to their disappointing season. Gasol has played in fewer games than Dwight Howard who has battled back and shoulder issues. He is on a collision course trying to catch the number of games Steve Nash missed with a broken leg.
Gason is averaging 13.4 point and 8.0 rebound per game. In his career, Gasol has averaged 18.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
