Pau Gasol is not yet ready to return to the court. He's not even ready to return to practices. However, he can at least do some form of working out. Apparently, the Los Angeles Lakers' forward has been cleared to use an elliptical.
While there is a good chance Gasol cannot return unless the Lakers make the playoffs, he is working hard to get back. Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News says Gasol has been cleared to use an elliptical.
The original timetable for Gasol's return was 6-8 weeks. There has been no change to that estimation, and Gasol is working on week three right now. The Lakers are concerned he may not be able to come back during the regular season if it takes him the full eight weeks or if he suffers any set backs.
Gasol's 2012-13 season has been filled with injuries. He has not been able to stay on the court, and the Lakers have struggled mightily this season. The team is 28-30 and on the outside looking in at the playoff picture. They could use Gasol about now.
Gasol has averaged 13.4 points and 8.0 rebounds per game this season. In his career, he has averaged 18.4 points and 9.2 boards per game.
