The Miami Heat managed to win their 12th game in a row despite not having one of their key role players. Shane Battier sat out the game while nursing a hamstring issue. He is listed as day-to-day and will be evaluated throughout the weeks.
According to an Associated Press report, this is the second time Battier is dealing with hamstring tightness. He missed games in January for a similar issue. Battier also missed time earlier in the year because of knee swelling.
Despite not having Battier on the court, the Heat managed to take care of the Sacramento Kings 141-129 in overtime. The win moves the Heat to 41-14 on the season. They have a six game lead on the second-place team in the Eastern Conference, the Indiana Pacers. Only the San Antonio Spurs have a better record than the Heat.
Battier is a 13-year NBA veteran. In his career, he has averaged 9.0 points and 4.4 rebound per game. So far this season, he is averaging 6.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.
