The Los Angeles Clippers have been discussing a trade for
Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett for guard Eric Bledsoe and center DeAndre
Jordan, according to Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc Spears of Yahoo!.
Wojnarowski and Spears add that there are differing factions
within the Celtics and Clippers on the “prudence of the deal,” but the teams
have “been in regular contact about the possibility,” of an agreement.
The biggest issue in the negotiations could be getting
Garnett to waive his no-trade clause in order to facilitate a trade. While Garnett’s
said he hopes to remain with the Celtics, Wojnarowski and Spears suggest there’s
hope that he’d consider waiving the clause given his home in Malibu and close
relationship with Clippers guard Chauncey Billups.
Los Angeles is now thought to be more willing to trade
Bledsoe as they are confident that Chris Paul will re-sign this offseason. The
Clippers also believe the addition of Garnett would make the team a strong
championship contender this season.
