The formerly red-hot Los Angeles Clippers had to do battle last night on the road without Blake Griffin. Griffin has been dealing with a hamstring issue and was a late scratch last night before the game. Without their star on the court, the Clippers fell to the lowly Washington Wizards.
The team made the announcement regarding Griffin shortly before the game.
Hamstring strain snaps a streak of 197 consecutive starts for Griffin.

Griffin's durability has been proven throughout his NBA career, and 197 starts is impressive, but the Clippers do not want to risk exacerbating the injury. They will need Griffin's services for the second half of the season as they try to fight for a number one seed in the playoffs.
Currently, the Clippers are 34-16, 4 1/2 games behind the San Antonio Spurs. Griffin has been a big part of their success, but the team has also had Chris Paul. Unfortunately, Paul missed his eighth-straight game with a bone bruise in his knee.
