Boston Celtic veterans Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce have
had their names come up in trade rumors throughout the season. However, general
manager Danny Ainge doesn’t expect either player to be traded, reports Chris Forsberg of ESPN Boston.
"Yeah, I think that's by far the most likely thing. Sure," he said when asked whether he was comfortable saying the two stars will remain in Boston.
Regarding the Garnett and Pierce rumors, Ainge said the
things that are being reported are generally not true this time of year, while
the things that are actually happening “are not being reported.”
For Garnett’s part, he hopes to retire with the Celtics.
Pierce has been with the organization longer than Garnett, and he doesn’t
appear to want to leave the club either.
While Boston could look into breaking up his current core of
players in the near future, he doesn’t expect to make “wholesale changes” to
the roster this season.
