The injury news will get better soon for the Chicago Bulls. Right? It has to. Derrick Rose should return soon. Kirk Hinrich will be back. Joakim Noah's foot will heal. And Carlos Boozer's hamstring will get better. But last night all four players were out, and the Bulls fell to the Indiana Pacers.
The loss dropped the Bulls into a tie with the Pacers for the Central Division lead in the Eastern Conference. At 29-14, both teams sit tied for third in the Eastern Conference's overall standings. Only the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat have better records.
The Bulls have managed to pull off their successful season despite the injuries. The team has been hit hard and often by injuries. Derrick Rose has missed the entire season to this point. Hinrich has missed games on numerous occasions. Noah, who has had to step up big time in Rose's absence, has also missed time on a few occasions. Yet, the Bulls have continued to compete.
The Pacers have not been immune to injuries themselves, but they haven't dealt with as much as the Bulls. Instead, the Pacers have simply overcome lower expectations and surprised the NBA with just how good they are.
The race to the finish should be a good one between these two teams. It will be even better if both teams can get healthy.
