As Andre Drummond recovers from a back injury suffered last week, he will be replaced by Andrew Nicholson in the upcoming Rising Stars Game during the NBA's ALl-Star weekend. Drummond is expected to miss a month due to the injury, so it has opened the door for Nicholson to shine.
According to Kurt Helin of ProBasketball Talk, Nicholson has been selected as Drummond's replacement. The Orlando Magic power forward is a worthy choice considering the production he has provided Orlando so far this season.
Drummond, rookie for the Detroit Pistons, suffered a stress fracture in his fifth vertebrae and will miss a month. Prior to the injury, he had been impressive in his rookie campaign. Drummond is averaging 7.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season.
Nicholson, who has been averaging only 15.5 minutes per game, has been making the best of his time on the court. He has averaged 7.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. As he works his way through his rookie season, Nicholson will likely start to get more minutes and will be give the chance to show what he's got.
