76ers rumors: Re-signing Andrew Bynum still ‘Plan A’

Center Andrew Bynum has yet to make his 2013 debut for the Philadelphia 76ers. Still, Philadelphia’s “Plan A” remains re-signing the pending free agent this summer, according to John Finger of CSN Philly.

“We have Plan A and I think everyone knows what A stands for. And we have Plan B and we don’t know,” general manager Tony DiLeo said on Friday morning at the Sixers’ workout site at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

DiLeo continued on to say that if and when the Sixers ever get their complete team on the floor, then he will be able to provide some clearer answers regarding the future. Philadelphia has a lot of financial flexibility with several free agents pending, including Bynum.

Bynum’s been sidelined due to lingering knee issues throughout the season. There have been several projected dates given for his return, but some continue to be skeptical whether or not he’ll play for Philadelphia this season.

At this point, the Sixers don’t appear to have much choice beyond continuing to roll the dice with Bynum if they truly want a shot at being a contender in the East. Dwight Howard will be a free agent as well after the season, but Philadelphia doesn’t seem to be one of the places he’ll consider playing.
