Ricky Rubio has been coming off the bench since making his return from torn ligaments in his knee. The Minnesota Timberwolves' point guard suffered the injury early last year and just recently made his return. Last night, he made it back into the starting lineup.
According to the Associated Press, Rubio's placement in the starting lineup was decided shortly before the game. The Timberwolves have been trying to slowly ease him back into game action. This is the next steps.
Rubio has played in 11 games since making his return. In that time, he has averaged 20.8 minutes per game. Last night, Rubio played 27 minutes. Rubio is averaging 3.8 points and 4.7 assists so far this season. In the Timberwolves' loss to the Los Angeles Clippers last night, Rubio had four points and six assists.
As the starts continue to come, Rubio will re-acclimate himself to playing full games. He is still trying to get back to the point he was at before the injury. Last season, Rubio averaged 10.6 points and 8.2 assists per game.
