Rockets Officially Reinstate Royce White

Perhaps the saga can come to a close soon now.  Royce White is once again a member of the Houston Rockets.  He will have to report to the Rockets' D-League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, but there is every indication that he will be able to work his way to the NBA team.

The Rockets released their official statement last night.  It said in part:

"The Houston Rockets and Royce White have today reached an agreement that addresses the major issues that they have been discussing, provides a new start, and gives Royce the best opportunity for long term success as a Houston Rocket."

White's battle with anxiety and his perception that the Rockets were not willing to help and accommodate him and his condition led to a series of events that eventually saw White refuse to report to the D-League and ultimately get suspended.  Now, the two sides will have to work on patching things up.

White had a successful college career aside from a  couple off-the-court incidents.  However, teams shied away from him because of the anxiety problems.  When the Rockets took White in the first round, it quickly became apparent that accommodating White's anxiety would be more difficult than they thought.  Specifically, White struggles with flying - a big part of playing in the NBA.

Fortunately, both sides have gotten together and seem to have reached a conclusion to this story.  White may still have a shot at reaching the NBA this season if he does well in the D-League and proves he is dedicated to the team.
