Charlie Villanueva fouled a driving Isaiah Thomas hard and sent Thomas sprawling to the floor. The foul let to some brief shoving and Villanueva's ejection, but no one was hurt. The foul is not likely to lead to a suspension for Villanueva which is good news for the Detroit Pistons. Watch the video and you be the judge if he should have been ejected.
Villanueva provides the Pistons with a strong inside presence. He is averaging 8.4 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and 1.0 assist per game. Villanueva is a veteran and knows how to play the game. Should he be suspended, it would be a significant blow for the Pistons.
Detroit is 12-22 this season. They have fallen hopelessly out of playoff contention. But if they want to build toward the future and stay competitive, they will need all the pieces on the court. That includes Villanueva.
