The Miami Heat beat the Washington Wizards last night, but the win did not come without some stress. The entire Miami area had a scare when LeBron James went down with an ankle injury in the third quarter. The injury was not too serious and he was able to stay in the game, but the moment was frightening nonetheless.
As Shandel Richardson of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports, James' ankle injury was minor enough that he was able to walk it off. He is dealing with a sore right knee to go along with a now sore ankle, but James' continued his streak of consecutive games with at least 20 points. James now has 21 straight games of 20 points or more. He has a real shot at breaking the NBA all-time record of 46 consecutive games - and all this while playing hurt.
James finished last night's contest with 24 points and seven assists. The Heat were not as sharp as they should have been, but they dismantled Washington just the same. Miami won 99-71. The Heat are now 23-9 on the season and in first place in the Eastern Conference.
James is averaging 26.5 points per game this season and 6.9 assists per game. He is also pulling down an average of 8.3 boards per game. As usual, he is dominating all around. James is fourth in the NBA in scoring.
