The Los Angeles Lakers are trying anything they can to get better, and get better quickly. This includes Mike D'Antoni's recent decision to play Pau Gasol off the bench. Rather than start the veteran forward, D'Antoni has been bringing Gasol off the bench. Initially Gasol had indicated that he was alright with it, but now it seems that's not the case.
Gasol has now expressed his displeasure with the current situation in Los Angeles. He does not want to come off the bench, but he knows it's out of his hands, says Joe McDonald of Fox Sports. This, of course, will lead to trade speculation as the rift between Gasol and the Lakers festers.
''I have no idea,'' he said of his future in LA. ''I can't really worry about something that is out of my hands so I am just going to stay positive and do my best, but it is not something I am too thrilled about. I wasn't expecting it. But right now we have bigger things to worry about as a group. As a team player that's what I'm most concern about.''Gasol has battled injuries all season long. He dealt with knee tendinitis and a concussion that kept him on the bench at times. However, Gasol has failed to produce like he has in the past when he has been in the game.
So far this season, Gasol has averaged 12.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season. In his career, he has averaged 18.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
