Every once in a while Carmelo Anthony will fast to get clarity in his life. He has been doing so for the past 15 days, and it may be affecting his starts in games. Anthony's choice to fast could be leading to a lack of energy and could make it take longer for him to get revved up for a game.
According to Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog, Anthony has struggled to find energy for the past 15 days as he has been fasting. He chooses to fast when he is looking for guidance and clarity in his life. That's the case right now, but he is done.
“I usually do it to get some clarity in my life and spiritual reasons,” Anthony said after going for 27 points and seven boards as the Knicks snapped a three-game losing streak with a 100-87 win over the New Orleans Hornets. “But I’m done now.”Anthony has not seen a reduction in his point totals while he's been fasting, but he says it has affected him. So far this season, Anthony is averaging 29.3 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per game. In his last five games-played, Anthony has had point totals of 23, 40, 20, 39, and 27.
The Knicks are off to one of their best starts with Anthony's help. They are 24-13 and in second place in the Eastern Conference. New York trails the Miami Heat by just one game for first place overall.
