Stephen Jackson's now famous (infamous?) tweet threatening Serge Ibaka has gotten him a $25,000 fine. Players trash talk all the time, but it's usually on the court. Now, with the rise in social media, trash talk can come from almost anywhere, and sometimes is can get out of hand. The league felt it had to take some sort of action, and they did. Lucky for Jackson, they chose to fine him over suspension.
Jackson was fined $25,000 by the NBA for his actions. The tweet in question came a few days ago, and Jackson has since apologized. He took the tweet down, but this is the internet. If it was ever up, it's up forever. Here is the tweet that got Jackson fined $25,000:
It would have been extreme for Jackson to be suspended for the tweet, but David Stern seems to be ruling the NBA with a Roger Goodell-like iron fist lately. He is coming down hard on players and teams. So the fine could be viewed as Stern taking it easy on Jackson.
