The Toronto Raptors provided an update on two of its injured players yesterday. Both Kyle Lowry and Andrea Bargnani will continue to miss time. Both have tears of some sort which will keep them off the court. Lowry's injury is less significant, and he will miss less time.
According to the official release, Lowry is expected to miss 10 days and Bargnani is out indefinitely. The Raptors say Lowry suffered a partial tear to his right triceps muscle. Surgery will not be necessary. Bargnani's injury is more serious. He suffered a ligament tear in his right elbow. There is no timetable for his return.
Both Lowry and Bargnani were injured in the Raptors loss to the Portland Trailblazers on Monday. Lowry suffered his injury when he fell after being grabbed in the third quarter. He did not return to the game. Bargnani was also unable to return to the game after he fell awkwardly after a dunk in the first quarter.
The Raptors are 4-19 on the season. Injuries to two of their main contributors will not help their season. Fortunately, Lowry should return soon, but the extent of Bargnani's injury still is not known.
Lowry is averaging 15.8 points per game and 5.8 assists per game. He is in his seventh NBA season. In that time, Lowry has averaged 10.6 points per game. Bargnani is averaging 16.0 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game. In his career, he has averaged 15.5 points per game.
Both injuries will be big losses to the Raptors. Toronto lost to the Brooklyn Nets last night without Lowry or Barnani. They play the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.
