Nets Injury Update: Brook Lopez Will Not Play Tonight

Fans of the Brooklyn Nets were hoping to have their center Brook Lopez back for their rematch with the hot new York Knicks. Unfortunately for them, Lopez will be out yet again, according to the Nets PR Twitter account.
Other tweets from Brooklyn Nets beat writers brought about news of Lopez's potential return.
Both are important points. The tweet by Boone suggests that despite Lopez having a good practice and Deron complimenting his recovery, the Nets will play it safe. Either that, or there is a hidden injury, but its doubtful that they had something like that. Last season it seemed as if the organization was not revealing all of the facts, but keep in mind Dwightmare was going on at the same time. Why lower Lopez's trade value?

This time, that's not the case.

Stefan Bondy brings up another good point. Although it is a game against the Knicks, and one that could be significant down the road in terms of series advantage  Lopez is much more important that one game. The impact he has on this team can be seen by the Nets recent slump. Their interior defense is nonexistent  the offense can't seem to get it going at times, and the bench has weakened due to Andray Blatche being upgraded to starting center. Having Lopez miss the next one or two games is much better than risking the rest of the season, or possibly his career.
