Knicks Lose as Carmelo Anthony Sits a Second-Straight Game

Carmelo Anthony's lacerated finger has kept him out another game.  On Thursday, the New York Knicks were able to overcome his loss and blow out the Miami Heat.  Last night, they were not as fortunate.  The Knicks lost to the Bulls 93-85.

Anthony will likely be re-evaluated today as the team returns to New York, and should be good to go for their next game against the Denver Nuggets tonight.  As we mentioned yesterday, some of Anthony's teammates thought it best that Anthony sit out until the team returned to New York.  It seems his coach felt that way too.

Even with the loss, the Knicks are still sitting at 14-5, the best record in the east.  New York has surprised a lot of people this season.  They made it to the postseason last year with an exciting team highlighted by Jeremy Lin's breakout year.  This season, they have Anthony stepping up and performing like an MVP.  Unfortunately, they have not had him in the last two games, but the team is probably happy with a 1-1 record in the games he missed.

Anthony is averaging 26.4 points per game this season.  He is also averaging 6.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this year.  He lacerated his finger Wednesday night against the Charlotte Bobcats.  The injury happened in the fourth quarter as Anthony was diving for a loose ball.
