While his name has frequented NBA trade rumors recently, the
Sacramento Kings are hesitant to trade big man DeMarcus Cousins, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.
The early word from the DeMarcus Cousins trade watch, according to the latest rumbles on the personnel grapevine, is that Kings co-owners Gavin and Joe Maloof remain reluctant in the extreme to part with their young big man, especially at a time when -- after three suspensions already this season -- Cousins' trade value isn't exactly on the upswing.
Stein adds that there’s a “growing sense among potential
suitors” that the Kings would be willing to trade Cousins in exchange for a
dependable veteran of quality or two. Front office sources say that the Boston
Celtics and Detroit Pistons are among the teams interested in acquiring
Cousins, according to Stein.
Cousins has flashed potential along with headaches over his
young career. The 22-year-old has already been suspended three times this
season but has averaged 16.5 points and 9.5 rebounds when he’s been able to
take the court.
