Lamar Odom showed up to the Los Angeles Clippers' training camp overweight and out of shape. It was disappointing to the team and their fans. As a result, Odom has struggled early this season. However, he has been working hard and is getting closer to being back in shape.
According to Arash Markazi of ESPN Los Angeles, Odom is making progress on his workouts and is in much better shape. Odom has taken on the role of team leader as he tries to get back to the form that won him the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2011.
Odom had a rough year after being traded to the Dallas Mavericks last season. He averaged just 6.6 points per game during the 2011-12 season. In the 2010-11 season, when Odom won the Sixth Man of the Year award, he averaged 14.4 points per game. So far this season, Odom is averaging just 2.2 points per game.
The Clippers will need Odom to get back to form this season. They are 11-6 and in first place in the Pacific Division. However, Odom could help ensure they stay in first place and march toward a high seed when the playoffs roll around.
