The New York Knicks took a shot to their confidence last night when the Chicago Bulls came to town. The Bulls entered Madison Square Garden as the clear underdog. They were missing their star player and going up against the best team in the Eastern Confernce. However, Chicago was able to use their defense to frustrate the Knicks and come away with a win. The Bulls frustrated the Knicks to the point of causing silly fouls, technicals, and ejections.
Among those ejected in last night's game was Carmelo Anthony. Arthur Staple of Newsday points out that the Knicks are 0-4 against the Bulls since coach Tom Thibodeau took over the team. Coach Thibodeau's stifling defense led to the mistakes that eventually sunk the Knicks last night.
While Anthony, Chandler, and coach Mike Woodson were all ejected last night, non suspensions are expected. Anthony and Woodson's ejections were a result of picking up their second technical fouls. Chandler's ejection came after getting into a small altercation with Joakim Noah. Both he and Noah were tossed before the issue could escalate.
Anthony and the Knicks have been riding high. Although Anthony missed a couple games with a sprained ankle, he has returned to his old self. He scored 29 points last night despite the ejection. The 29 point, though, snapped his four-game streak of 30+ points per game.
New York fell to 19-7 on the season. They will face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.
