The Chicago Bulls finally got some good news regarding injuries yesterday. Coach Tom Thibodeau commented on the status of a few of the team's injured players and the news was encouraging. Chicago has been hit hard with injuries. They started the season without Derrick Rose, they've lost Kirk Hinrich three times now. And now they are waiting on Richard Hamilton's return.
Seth Gruen of the Chicago Post-Tribune says Coach Thibodeau is please with the progress Hinrich and Hamilton are making. Their returns are likely going to come soon. He also commented on Derrick Rose and said the star point guard has been participating in "pre-practice" activities.
Pre-practice activities likely means watching film and going through walk-throughs says Gruen. But regardless, the fact that Rose has re-joined the team in some capacity is great news. However, Thibodeau cautioned against comparing Rose's injury and recovery timetable to that of Ricky Rubio.
“The focus still has to be on his rehab and the things that he needs to do,’’ Thibodeau said. ‘‘So he has to do a lot of things off the court still. He’s doing more and more on the court, which is encouraging. But he’s still a ways away.”Rubio made his return this weekend and looked good. Rose, on the other hand, is not expected to return until sometime in early 2013. When the Bulls do get him back, it will be a huge boost. Chicago is 13-9 and currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference. They have done a great job without Rose and will only improve when he returns.
