The Golden State Warriors can ill-afford injuries at this point.  They are trying to claw their way out of the basement, and to do so they will need every piece healthy.  Unfortunately, the team may have lost Brandon Rush to a significant knee injury.  He landed awkwardly on his left knee in the first quarter of the team's loss to the Memphis Gizzlies and had to leave in a lot of pain.

Matt Steinmetz of CSN Bay Area said Rush had X-Rays after the game, but the results were not revealed.  He is scheduled to undergo an MRI today.  While we do not know the extent of the injury, a lot can be learned by the player's initial reaction.  They are the first to know how serious an injury is, and Rush'a reaction indicates his knee is pretty badly injured.


Rush was attempting a dunk in the first quarter when he was fouled from behind by Zach Randolph.  Rush went to the ground and his knee bent at a bad angle.  He was clearly upset as he limped his way into the locker room after the injury.



Rush has averaged 9.1 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per game in his five-year NBA career.  He is entering his second season with the Warriors after spending his first three years with the Indiana Pacers.  Rush had an impressive season last year and it led to him re-signing with the Warriors for $8 million.

This wouldn't be the first significant knee injury for the 27-year old forward.  He suffered a torn right ACL in 2007.
