Andrew Bogut tried to come back too soon from his surgically-repaired ankle. All that did was result in poor play and an exacerbation of the injury. Now, after being cautious with the injury, it seems the Golden State Warriors and Andrew Bogut are comfortable and ready for the big center's return.
According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports, Bogut is expected back this Saturday barring any setbacks during practice this week. The Warriors have managed to stay afloat without Bogut, but how long they could sustain their above .500 record is not certain.
With Bogut back in the mix, the team has a real shot at riding out their early season success and becoming a true contender. However, Bogut will be needed for the whole season. An early return (which this does not seem to be) would do nothing for the Warriors if it means another trip to the bench with an injury.
Bogut has averaged 12.6 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game in his career. He has been dominant at times, but he needs consistency. Bogut's 2011-12 season was cut short thanks to injury, and his start to the 2012-12 season has already been cut short - with a new team no less. Now, with Bogut returning, he will need to make a statement. A statement showing that he can play and play without injury.
