Timberwolves Hope Josh Howard Can Fill The Hole

The Minnesota Timberwolves have suffered too many injuries.  They have hung in there this season despite the injuries, but it would be difficult to maintain without help.  They hope they have that help in Josh Howard.

According to the Pioneer Press, the Wolves have signed free agent forward Josh Howard.  The deal is pending a physical, but Howard should have no problem passing the exam.  Because of the physical though, Howard is not expected to play tonight.  But the Wolves do help he can plug the holes left behind by injuries.

"We're pleased to add a proven veteran in Josh Howard to our team," Timberwolves president of basketball operations David Kahn said in a statement. "Josh has been a productive player in our league for nine years and will add to our depth at the wing position."
This will be Howard's tenth season in the NBA.  He is most known for the seven years he spent with the Dallas Mavericks.  He has since become a journeyman of sorts.  Howard is 32 years old and has shown decreased productivity over the last couple seasons.  He has averaged 14.5 points per game in his career, but he hasn't even cracked nine points per game in either of his last two seasons.

The Wolves need help in part because of injuries to Ricky Rubio, Kevin Love, Brandon Roy, and Nikola Pekovic.  Those names would be daunting in and of themselves, but the Timberwolves actually have a total of six injured players on their roster.
