Lakers Injury News: Steve Nash Two Weeks Out at the Most

Steve Nash will soon be reunited with Mike D'Antoni, his former coach while the two were in Phoenix.  Nash and D'Antoni had a lot of success with the Suns, but no championships of course.  They both hope to change that with the Los Angeles Lakers, but Nash has to return to action first.  He spoke with reporters yesterday and gave an idea of when he may return.

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles, Nash is expecting to return within a week - two weeks at the most.  The Lakers have listed Nash's back-up, Steve Blake, as day to day with an abdominal strain, so they can't get Nash back soon enough.

"There's progress," Nash said before the Lakers' 84-82 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. "We made progress. Sometimes you got to rely on Mother Nature, too. I mean, it is a fracture. So, got to wait for that to heal a little bit more before I can do a lot."
Nash suffered a fractured fibula in the second game of the season.  He has since missed the Lakers next six games.  Steve Blake has been acting as the back-up point guard until he suffered an injury himself two games ago.  Last night, the Lakers used Darius Morris at point, and had Chris Duhon back him up.

The Lakers are off to a 3-5 start after yesterday's loss.  They host the Phoenix Suns on Friday.  D'Antoni should be with the team by then.  He is expected to join them today.
