Sixers Injury News: Andrew Bynum Set for Injection

Philadelphia 76ers center Andrew Bynum is scheduled for another injection on his injured right knee, the Associated Press reports.

Bynum on Monday will receive an injection of Synvisc - a gel-like substance that sometimes provides relief for inflamed tissue.

Synvisc is a natural substance that is designed to cushion the joint in his knee. This is something Bynum has undergone several times over the previous two seasons, and Philadelphia is characterizing the injection as routine.

Following the injection Bynum will continue to participate in conditioning drills. So far this preseason he’s been held out of basketball-related activity as a precautionary measure. As of now the team still expects Bynum to be ready to go for the Oct. 31 regular season opener.
