Damian Lillard has been battling a bruised left foot. The injury has kept him out of practice and limited his game action. However, yesterday Lillard was able to make his home debut in Portland. The Trail Blazers rookie was able to play through any pain he experienced and didn't seem hindered by the foot.
Mike Tokito of the Oregonian said Lillard looked sharp in the debut and could have earned a double-double had teammates not made relatively simple shots. Lillard did finish with 15 points and seven assists in the Trailblazers loss to the Golden State Warriors.
Lillard is in his first season out of Weber State. He was a four-year plater there and showed consistent improvement. Last season, Lillard averaged 24.5 points per game and 4.0 assists per game. It earned him a sixth overall draft selection by the Blazers.
Portland is just 2-3 this preseason. They have two more preseason games to hone their skills before opening the regular season against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 31st.
