Lakers Injury Update: Jordan Hill Avoids Surgery

Earlier this week, it was reported that Lakers' Jordan Hill had a herniated disk. He had experienced the pain after the first preseason game but the status for future procedures was uncertain at that time. After being re-evaluated, Hill will not need surgery thanks to some advice given to him by newcomer Dwight Howard.

On the topic of Dwight, Hill said,
"He had a short little tear on his disk and kept playing on it," Hill said. "He didn't get his core right and wasn't stretching so it got worse. So that's what we have to do. We have to get it stronger."
Howard had recently undergone surgery due to his own herniated disk problems. He is still in the rehabbing process but he's been telling Jordan Hill what to do and not do so Hill can avoid injury.
"It's definitely not serious," Hill said. "It can be serious if you don't get your core right. We'll reevaluate it in a week and hopefully I'll be back in a week."
Entering his fourth season of the NBA, Hill brings in youth that a aging yet still talented Lakers team needs. If all goes well, Hill could be back for the start of the season.  Last season, Hill averaged five points and 4.8 rebounds in 49.7% shooting.
