Last night was the final game of the preseason for the Los Angeles Lakers. And they lost it. Just like they had in their previous seven preseason games, the Lakers couldn't quite get over the hump and lost. The team is battling injuries and has not had its full team together for virtually the entire preseason. They've been without Kobe Bryant, Jordan Hill, and Dwight Howard at different times this preseason.
According to Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times, Hill is trying to work his way all the way back. For now, though, he is just playing as much as he can when he's cleared - which includes the last two games for the Lakers. So, Los Angeles has Dwight Howard and Jordan Hill back, but they have lost Kobe Bryant for the last three games and possibly the season opener.
The Lakers open the season against the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks understand injury concerns as their best player, Dirk Nowitzki continues to sit after knee surgery. Los Angeles is looking to put together another championship run. They've proven this with their offseason acquisitions of Howard and Steve Nash. However, injuries can derail a championship run in a heartbeat.
