Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard continued to show no
signs of being limited by his surgically repaired back, reports Dave McMenamin
of ESPNLosAngeles.com:
"I don't know when he's coming back or whatever," Lakers coach Mike Brown said. "As much as he's practicing, to me, he's back."
Howard was a full-go for Tuesday’s four-hour practice which included
full-contact drills, and he followed this effort up by not missing a beat
during the Lakers’ second day of practice on Wednesday.
McMenamin notes that there is one more hurdle remaining that
Howard has to overcome before he can officially be considered “back.” The
26-year-old has yet to be cleared to participate in 5-on-5 full-court scrimmages.
The Lakers will continue to re-evaluate him as he goes through early practices.
Howard was acquired by the Lakers in August in the mega
four-team trade that also involved Andrew Bynum and Andre Iguodala. Over eight
seasons in the NBA Howard has averaged 18.4 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.2
blocks per game.
