Timberwolves Injury News: Kevin Love Out 6-8 Weeks

Minnesota Timberwolves star forward Kevin Love is suffering from a broken right hand. Royce Young of CBSSports reports that he is expected to be out for six to eight weeks.
The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Wednesday that star forward Kevin Love will be out 6-8 weeks because of a broken right hand. The team says the injury happened Wednesday morning during a workout.
This is a blow to the team that will cost them severely. The gold medalist has been in the talks for the best power forward in the game, along with the best rebounding big man in the league. Missing eight weeks would result in nearly a quarter of the games in the regular season, and the Timberwolves just can not afford that. The acquisitions of Brandon Roy and Andrei Kirilenko can lessen the wound from this loss but it will play a huge part during the season. They are also already missing Ricky Rubio, which makes in even worse. A rocky start looks to ensue for Minnesota.

At just 23 years old, Love is averaging 26.0 points per game to go with 13.3 rebounds, a mind-blowing stat when one player is piling up stats like that. Love has oft been criticized for his lack of defense, but the real loss will be the rebounding. Hopefully Roy and Kirilenko can pick up the offensive slack but its justifiable to suspect whether back-up Derrick Williams can sustain the position since it will be his second year in the league.
